HOW TO MEASURE FOR AN INSIDE-RECESS ROMAN SHADE

An inside-recess Roman blind is fitted within the window opening for a clean and streamlined appearance.

1. Confirm that the recess has sufficient clear, flat space for the blind and mounting clamps.

2. Measure the internal width of the recess at the top, middle and bottom.

3. Use the smallest of the three width measurements.

4. Measure the internal height on the left, center and right.

5. Use the longest of the three height measurements.

6. Enter the exact recess measurements without making your own deductions.

A small production allowance will be applied to the width where required so that the shade can operate smoothly inside the recess.

Please measure around any projecting handles, tiles, trim, locks or other obstructions that could interfere with the movement of the blind.

HOW TO MEASURE FOR AN OUTSIDE-RECESS ROMAN SHADE

An outside-recess Roman blind is mounted on the wall or window frame above and around the opening. This installation can provide greater window coverage and reduce light entering around the sides.

1. Measure the width of the actual window opening.

2. Add approximately 2–3 inches or 5–7.5 cm to each side when space permits.

3. The resulting measurement will be the required finished blind width.

4. Decide where the top mounting clamps will be installed.

5. Measure vertically from that top mounting position to the point where the bottom of the blind should finish.

6. Add additional overlap above or below the window where required for privacy and light control.

7. Enter the finished Roman-shade measurements, rather than only the uncovered window-opening measurements.

For maximum blackout performance, an outside mount with generous overlap around the window usually provides better edge coverage than an inside mount.
