The design consists of fine horizontal and vertical lines crossing the soft white velvet background to form large irregular rectangular checks.

Unlike a traditional tartan with heavy solid bands, the lines in this design are delicate, broken and varied in colour. Sections of light taupe, dusty blue, muted mint, pale aqua, grey and deeper neutral accents appear along the same lines, creating a relaxed hand-drawn or modern patchwork effect.

With an inside-recess installation, a small amount of light can still enter around the outside edges of the Roman shade because installation clearance is required between the shade and the sides of the recess.

For stronger overall room darkening, an outside-recess installation with sufficient overlap around the window is generally preferable.

HOW TO MEASURE FOR INSIDE RECESS INSTALLATION

An inside-recess Roman shade is installed within the window opening for a clean, streamlined appearance.

1. Measure the exact internal width of the window recess at the top where the Roman shade will be installed.

2. Measure the exact height of the recess from the top installation point to the bottom.

3. We recommend using a rigid metal measuring tape for maximum accuracy.

4. Enter the exact recess width and height in the order details email.

5. Write “Inside Recess” as the installation type.

Please supply the actual recess measurements and do not make your own deductions unless specifically discussed with us beforehand.

HOW TO MEASURE FOR OUTSIDE RECESS INSTALLATION

An outside-recess Roman shade is installed over the window opening rather than inside it.

For good window coverage, we recommend adding approximately:

2 inches / 5 cm to the LEFT side

2 inches / 5 cm to the RIGHT side

This adds approximately:

4 inches / 10 cm to the total window width.

For height, measure from approximately:

4 inches / 10 cm above the top of the window frame

down to the point where you would like the Roman blind to finish.

Outside mounting provides greater overlap around the window and can help reduce light entering around the edges when the blackout liner is selected.
