Natural Gray Linen Roman Shade, Olive Sage Mid Century Atomic Print Custom Blind, Blackout or Light Filtering Window Shade
Custom natural gray and olive printed pure linen Roman shade, individually made to your exact window measurements from thick, heavy luxury linen.
This distinctive corded Roman blind features a playful mid-century modern atomic print in olive green, lichen, muted mustard, pale aqua, seafoam, mushroom taupe and charcoal gray across a softly textured natural gray-beige linen background.
The design combines regularly spaced gray plus signs with scattered atomic starbursts, abstract flowers, molecular clusters, rounded jack shapes, arrowhead symbols, boomerang-like marks and small space-age geometric motifs.
The compact all-over repeat has a recognisable 1950s and 1960s retro character, while the pale neutral background and softly muted colors keep the finished window treatment sophisticated and easy to coordinate with modern interiors.
The linen ground appears as a light natural gray with subtle greige, flax, stone, silver-beige and off-white undertones. Darker gray crosses create an orderly visual framework, while olive-green jacks, mustard-lichen starbursts, pale aqua rosettes and taupe abstract flowers add gentle color and movement.
Choose between an organic cotton light-filtering liner for softly diffused natural daylight or a 100% blackout OEKO-TEX certified non-toxic polycotton liner for maximum darkness, privacy and stronger light control.
The thick pure linen face fabric is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and has the authentic woven texture, visible yarn variation and substantial weight associated with genuine luxury linen.
This made-to-measure Roman shade works beautifully in mid-century modern, retro, Scandinavian, organic modern, contemporary, eclectic, bohemian, warm minimalist, modern farmhouse and nature-inspired interiors.
Each Roman blind is individually made according to the exact finished width and height entered in the Etsy order details email.

DETAILED COLOR DESCRIPTION
The linen background is a softly natural pale gray rather than a stark optical white, dark charcoal or strongly brown beige.
Its woven color combines:
Pale natural gray
Silver greige
Light stone
Soft gray-beige
Weathered flax
Warm off-white
Very pale mushroom
Subtle oatmeal undertones
The background contains both cool gray and warm beige influences. Depending on the light, it may look more silver-gray, pale greige, natural flax or soft off-white.
The genuine linen weave creates visible tonal variation across the surface. Individual lighter and slightly darker yarns remain noticeable, giving the fabric an authentic textile appearance rather than a flat or digitally uniform finish.
GRAY PLUS-SIGN MOTIFS
Repeated plus signs form horizontal rows across the linen background.
These motifs appear in:
Medium charcoal gray
Weathered graphite
Soft pewter
Muted slate
Warm gray
The gray is softened rather than black, allowing the repeated crosses to create structure without overpowering the lighter background.
OLIVE AND LICHEN GREEN MOTIFS
Several abstract jack, arrow and floral shapes appear in earthy yellow-green shades.
These colors combine:
Olive green
Lichen green
Muted chartreuse
Khaki
Sage olive
Moss green
Antique yellow-green
The greens are natural and slightly dusty rather than bright emerald, vivid lime or dark forest green.
MUSTARD AND OCHRE ACCENTS
Some radiating starbursts and small abstract motifs appear in muted mustard, antique yellow and golden lichen tones.
The mustard is softened and earthy rather than bright lemon yellow or metallic gold.
PALE AQUA AND SEAFOAM MOTIFS
Rounded floral clusters and geometric rosettes appear in pale aqua and blue-green tones.
These shades include:
Pale aqua
Seafoam
Dusty blue-green
Soft eucalyptus
Light duck-egg
Muted mint-blue
Gray-aqua
These cool details provide gentle contrast against the warmer olive and mustard accents.
TAUPE AND MUSHROOM MOTIFS
Several abstract flower and cross-shaped symbols appear in mushroom taupe, warm stone, gray-brown and pale putty.
These neutral motifs blend softly with the background and keep the overall color palette balanced.
Under bright natural daylight, the background may appear lighter and slightly cooler, while the pale aqua and silver-gray details become more noticeable.
Under warm indoor lighting, the linen may appear more greige or flax colored, while the olive, mustard and mushroom undertones become stronger.
The overall palette coordinates beautifully with:
Warm-white and cream walls
Pale gray and greige walls
Sage or olive walls
Natural oak furniture
White oak and ash wood
Walnut and teak furniture
Mid-century wooden furniture
White-painted furniture
Black metal accents
Antique brass lighting
Brushed nickel hardware
Cream and oatmeal upholstery
Olive-green cushions
Sage bedding
Pale aqua accessories
Mustard accents
Mushroom and taupe textiles
Camel or cognac leather
Natural stone
Travertine surfaces
Rattan and cane furniture
Woven baskets
Jute and wool rugs
Retro ceramics
Abstract geometric artwork
Vintage-inspired accessories
DETAILED PATTERN DESCRIPTION
The fabric features a small-scale mid-century modern atomic print composed of abstract geometric symbols scattered across the natural gray linen background.
The design is reminiscent of 1950s and early 1960s space-age textiles, when atomic diagrams, starbursts, toy-jack shapes, boomerangs and simplified scientific symbols became popular in fabrics, wallpaper and interior décor.
The pattern contains several distinct motif groups.
PLUS-SIGN AND CROSS MOTIFS
Medium-gray plus signs are arranged at regular intervals across the background.
Their repeated placement creates a subtle grid and gives structure to the more freely scattered decorative symbols.
The lines have slightly softened edges, helping them resemble hand-rendered textile marks rather than perfectly mechanical digital shapes.
OLIVE ATOMIC-JACK MOTIFS
Rounded olive-green shapes contain four arms extending from a central point.
They resemble:
Vintage toy jacks
Simplified atoms
Connected molecules
Four-ended botanical sprigs
Atomic diagrams
Small space-age icons
Their earthy olive coloring makes them feel organic as well as geometric.
STAR AND SUNBURST MOTIFS
Muted mustard and lichen-green shapes resemble radiating suns, stylized daisies, atomic explosions or small celestial starbursts.
Fine rays extend from a central point, giving these motifs a recognisable retro atomic appearance.
AQUA ROSETTE MOTIFS
Pale aqua and seafoam designs resemble circular flowers, molecular structures, geometric snowflakes or decorative rosettes.
Small rounded forms surround a central circle, creating a soft contrast with the sharper gray crosses and arrow motifs.
TAUPE ABSTRACT FLOWERS
Mushroom-taupe motifs resemble four-petal flowers, crossed branches, propellers or simplified botanical shapes.
Their neutral coloring allows them to blend gently into the pale linen while adding another layer of visual detail.
ARROW AND BOOMERANG MOTIFS
Several olive and lichen symbols combine triangular points, paired dots and short angled lines.
They may resemble:
Boomerangs
Directional arrows
Spacecraft symbols
Navigation marks
Abstract birds
Mid-century geometric icons
MOLECULAR CLUSTERS
Additional motifs combine rounded dots, central circles and radiating arms.
These resemble atoms, cells, berries, flowers or simplified scientific diagrams.
The design may accurately be described as:
Mid-century modern atomic print
Retro geometric linen
1950s-inspired textile pattern
Space-age abstract print
Olive and gray geometric fabric
Atomic starburst pattern
Boomerang and jack print
Vintage-inspired linen design
Scattered abstract motif
Modern organic geometric print
Sage and aqua retro pattern
The motifs are relatively small and surrounded by visible areas of pale linen. This prevents the design from appearing overly dense or visually overwhelming.
From a distance, the fabric reads as a light natural-gray Roman shade with a subtle olive and aqua pattern.
At closer range, the individual crosses, starbursts, atomic jacks, arrows, flowers, rosettes and authentic linen weave become much more noticeable.
Because every Roman shade is produced to custom measurements, the exact number and placement of the motifs will depend on the finished width, finished height and fabric-cutting position.
Some symbols may be partially cropped along the sides, top or bottom of the completed shade. Pattern placement will be arranged carefully, but identical motif positioning cannot be guaranteed for different sizes.
WHY CHOOSE THIS CUSTOM ROMAN SHADE
This made-to-measure Roman blind combines practical window coverage with the natural texture of heavy pure linen and the playful personality of a mid-century atomic print.
The substantial linen gives the shade body, structure and a tailored designer-quality appearance.
The light natural-gray background keeps the shade versatile and airy, while the olive, aqua, mustard, taupe and charcoal motifs introduce color without creating an overly bright or heavily saturated window treatment.
Unlike a plain gray Roman shade, this design adds personality, movement and vintage-inspired detail while remaining easy to coordinate with neutral walls, natural wood furniture and muted interior palettes.
The small-scale pattern is particularly suitable for narrow and medium-width windows because several different motifs remain visible even on smaller custom blinds.
When fully lowered, the Roman shade displays the scattered atomic pattern across the window.
When raised, the linen gathers into structured horizontal Roman folds near the lower section of the shade. The small printed motifs remain visible across the folds and create a relaxed layered effect.
This custom window treatment is ideal for customers searching for:

LINER OPTIONS
The selected liner must be entered in the Etsy order details email together with the exact measurements and installation method.
OPTION 1: ORGANIC COTTON LIGHT-FILTERING LINER
The organic cotton light-filtering liner gently softens incoming daylight while allowing a comfortable natural glow to remain in the room.
It adds body and structure to the thick printed linen, improves privacy and gives the reverse side of the Roman shade a clean, finished appearance.
The organic cotton light-filtering liner is recommended for:
Living rooms
Dining rooms
Kitchens
Breakfast nooks
Home offices
Creative studios
Guest bedrooms
Reading corners
Dressing rooms
Hallways
Bathrooms where complete darkness is not required
Light filtering does not mean blackout. Natural daylight will continue to pass softly through the lined Roman shade.
The exact result will vary according to:
The direction of the window
The strength of the sunlight
The time of day
The season
The surrounding room lighting
The pale natural linen may appear brighter when strong daylight passes through it. The olive, aqua and mustard motifs may also appear lighter or more luminous.
The organic cotton light-filtering liner is suitable when you want softened glare, additional privacy and a naturally illuminated room rather than complete darkness.
OPTION 2: 100% BLACKOUT OEKO-TEX CERTIFIED LINER
The blackout option uses a non-toxic OEKO-TEX certified polycotton liner made from 50% cotton and 50% polyester.
This liner is designed to block light from passing through the face fabric and is recommended for rooms requiring maximum darkness, increased privacy and stronger light control.
The 100% blackout liner is especially suitable for:
Primary bedrooms
Guest bedrooms
Nurseries
Children’s bedrooms
Media rooms
Home theaters
Street-facing windows
Rooms receiving strong morning sunlight
Rooms requiring increased nighttime privacy
The blackout liner blocks light through the fabric itself.
A narrow amount of light may remain visible around the outer edges of an inside-mounted Roman shade because fitting clearance is required for smooth operation within the recess.
For the darkest possible result, choose an outside-recess installation with sufficient overlap around the top, bottom and both sides of the window opening.

HOW TO MEASURE FOR AN INSIDE-RECESS ROMAN SHADE
An inside-recess or inside-mount Roman shade is fitted within the window opening for a clean, streamlined and built-in appearance.
1. Use a rigid metal measuring tape rather than a flexible fabric measuring tape.
2. Measure the internal recess width in three places: across the top, middle and bottom.
3. Record the smallest of the three width measurements.
4. Measure the internal recess height in three places: on the left, in the centre and on the right.
5. Record the longest of the three height measurements.
6. Enter the exact recess width and height in the order details email.
7. Do not make your own width deduction. The necessary manufacturing allowance will be applied while making the Roman shade so that it can operate smoothly inside the recess.
8. Check that the recess has sufficient clear and flat space for the Roman-blind mechanism and mounting clamps.
9. Check for projecting window handles, locks, alarm sensors, tiles, moulding, trim or other obstructions that could interfere with the movement of the shade.
10. Measure at the exact depth where the mounting clamps and Roman-blind mechanism will be installed.
11. Measure every window separately, even when several windows appear identical.
12. Do not provide only the dimensions of an existing blind because those measurements may already include manufacturing deductions.
INSIDE-RECESS MEASURING EXAMPLE
Top width: 35.50 inches
Middle width: 35.25 inches
Bottom width: 35.375 inches
Width to enter: 35.25 inches
Left height: 64.25 inches
Centre height: 64.50 inches
Right height: 64.375 inches
Height to enter: 64.50 inches
HOW TO MEASURE FOR AN OUTSIDE-RECESS ROMAN SHADE
An outside-recess or outside-mount Roman shade is installed on the wall or window frame above and around the opening.
This installation can provide increased privacy, improved coverage around the edges and a more prominent decorative appearance.
1. Measure the width of the uncovered window opening.
2. Decide how much the finished Roman shade should overlap on each side.
3. Where sufficient space is available, add approximately 2–3 inches or 5–7.5 cm to both the left and right sides.
4. The complete measurement, including the chosen overlap, will be the finished Roman-shade width entered in the order details email.
5. Decide where the upper mounting clamps will be positioned.
6. Measure vertically from the planned upper mounting position to the exact point where the bottom of the Roman shade should finish.
7. Include the desired overlap above and below the window opening.
8. Enter the complete finished shade width and height rather than only the dimensions of the uncovered glass.
9. Check for projecting handles, vents, switches, moulding, trim and other obstructions.
10. Confirm that sufficient flat surface is available for securely fitting the mounting clamps.
11. No width deduction is normally applied to an outside-recess finished measurement.
For a blackout Roman shade, generous overlap around all four sides can help reduce the amount of light entering around the outer edges.
OUTSIDE-RECESS MEASURING EXAMPLE
Window-opening width: 34 inches
Left-side overlap: 2.5 inches
Right-side overlap: 2.5 inches
Finished Roman-shade width to enter: 39 inches
Measure the finished height from the planned upper mounting position to the exact point where the bottom of the shade should finish.
INSTALLATION HARDWARE
Mounting clamps and screws are included with the Roman shade.
Inside-recess and outside-recess installations require different mounting clamps.
Please clearly state the intended installation method in the order details email so the correct clamps can be supplied.
Inside-recess clamps are intended for fitting the Roman blind within the window opening.
Outside-recess clamps are intended for fitting the Roman blind to the wall or window frame outside the opening.
The suitability of the supplied screws will depend on the material and condition of the installation surface.
Suitable wall plugs, anchors or specialist fixings may be required for plasterboard, tile, concrete, masonry, hollow walls or other surfaces.
Professional installation is recommended whenever the mounting surface or installation method is uncertain.
IMPORTANT NATURAL LINEN AND PRINT INFORMATION
Pure linen naturally contains slubs, small yarn variations and subtle differences in weave density. These are expected characteristics of genuine linen and are not considered defects.
Minor variations may occur in the natural gray linen background or printed colors between separate fabric batches.
The exact placement of the printed motifs will vary according to the custom measurements and the section of fabric used.
Individual symbols may be partially cropped along the sides, top or bottom of the finished Roman shade.
The natural linen weave may remain visible through portions of the printed design. This contributes to the relaxed textile character of the fabric.
Actual colors may vary slightly because of photography, screen calibration, natural daylight, artificial lighting and surrounding room décor.
Please review every measurement carefully before ordering because each Roman shade is individually made according to the information supplied.
