HOW TO MEASURE FOR AN INSIDE-MOUNT ROMAN SHADE

An inside-mount or inside-recess Roman shade is installed within the window opening for a clean, streamlined appearance.

1. Use a rigid metal measuring tape rather than a flexible sewing tape.

2. Check that the window recess is sufficiently deep for the Roman-shade mechanism and mounting clamps.

3. Approximately 1.5 inches or 3.8 cm of flat depth is generally required, while approximately 1.75 inches or 4.5 cm is preferable.

HOW TO MEASURE FOR AN OUTSIDE-MOUNT ROMAN SHADE

An outside-mount or outside-recess Roman shade is installed on the wall, trim or frame surrounding the window opening.

1. Measure the uncovered width of the window opening.

2. Where sufficient space is available, add approximately 2 inches or 5 cm to the left side and 2 inches or 5 cm to the right side.

3. This produces approximately 4 inches or 10 cm of total additional width for better coverage and privacy.

4. The complete measurement, including the overlap, is the finished Roman-shade width to enter in Personalization.

5. Decide where the upper mounting clamps will be installed.

6. Where space permits, positioning the top approximately 4 inches or 10 cm above the window frame can provide better coverage.

7. Measure vertically from the planned upper mounting position to the exact point where you want the bottom of the shade to finish.

8. Include any required coverage below the window opening or sill.

9. Enter the complete finished width and height—not only the dimensions of the uncovered glass.

VELVET CHARACTERISTICS

Velvet has a directional surface known as pile or nap. The fabric can appear subtly lighter or darker when viewed from different directions or under changing light.

These natural tonal shifts are a characteristic of velvet and should not be considered a printing defect.

The soft pile may show temporary pressure marks after packaging. These usually relax after the shade has been unpacked and hung.

Separate shades ordered at different times may display minor differences in color or print placement because of normal fabric-batch variation.
