The blackout option uses a non-toxic OEKO-TEX certified polycotton liner containing 50% cotton and 50% polyester.

The blackout liner:

The blackout liner blocks light through the fabric itself. Narrow light gaps may remain around the edges of an inside-mounted Roman shade because a small fitting clearance is required. An outside-recess installation with generous overlap generally provides the greatest overall light coverage.

HOW TO MEASURE FOR INSIDE-RECESS INSTALLATION

An inside-recess or inside-mount Roman shade is installed within the window opening for a clean, fitted and streamlined appearance.

1. Confirm that the window recess has sufficient clear depth and a suitable mounting surface for the Roman blind mechanism and clamps.

2. Measure the internal width of the recess at three positions: across the top, middle and bottom.

3. Record the smallest of these three width measurements because window openings are not always perfectly square.

4. Measure the internal height at three positions: on the left side, through the center and on the right side.

5. Record the longest of these three height measurements.

6. Use a rigid metal measuring tape and record measurements as precisely as possible.

7. Check for projecting handles, locks, tiles or other obstructions that could interfere with the Roman shade as it raises and lowers.

8. Enter the exact recess-opening measurements in the order details email.

9. Clearly state “inside recess” or “inside mount.”

10. Do not make your own fitting deduction unless specifically requested.

A small production allowance will be made where required so the blind can operate correctly within the recess. Inside-mounted blinds may allow narrow lines of light around the outer edges.

HOW TO MEASURE FOR OUTSIDE-RECESS INSTALLATION

An outside-recess or outside-mount Roman shade is installed on the wall or window frame above and around the window opening.

This fitting method can make a window appear larger and generally offers greater privacy and light coverage.

1. Decide where the top of the Roman shade will be installed.

2. Measure the total finished width you want the blind to cover.

3. Where space permits, add approximately 2–4 inches or 5–10 cm of overlap on each side of the window opening.

4. Additional side overlap helps reduce light gaps and improves privacy.

5. Measure vertically from the intended upper mounting point to the position where you want the lowered shade to finish.

6. Add coverage below the window opening where practical.

7. Allow sufficient space above the window for the fabric folds to stack when the shade is raised.

8. Enter the final finished shade width and height in the order details email.

9. Clearly state “outside recess” or “outside mount.”

For an outside-mounted order, provide the complete finished measurements you want the Roman shade to have rather than only the dimensions of the window glass.
