It is designed to block light completely through the fabric and provide maximum privacy and room darkening. This is the best option for bedrooms, nurseries, guest rooms, media rooms, children’s rooms, and spaces where you need complete darkness.

How to measure for inside recess Roman blinds: Inside recess means the Roman shade will be fitted inside the window frame or window opening.

Step 1: Measure the inside width of your window recess in three places: top, middle, and bottom.

Step 2: Use the smallest width measurement.

Step 3: Measure the inside height / drop of your window recess in three places: left, center, and right.

Step 4: Use the full height measurement required for coverage.

Step 5: Check that your window recess has enough depth for the Roman blind hardware and the folded fabric stack.

Step 6: Enter your exact required size in the order details email and write “inside recess installation.”

Inside recess installation gives a neat, fitted, built-in look. Please note that inside-mounted blackout Roman shades may still allow tiny light gaps around the side edges because of the fitting style.

How to measure for outside recess Roman blinds: Outside recess means the Roman shade will be mounted outside the window opening, either on the wall or on the window trim.

Step 1: Measure the full width of the area you want the Roman shade to cover.

Step 2: For better privacy and light control, add extra width beyond the window opening on both sides.

Step 3: For blackout use, outside recess installation is recommended where possible because the extra overlap helps reduce light gaps.

Step 4: Measure the drop from where you want the shade to start down to where you want it to finish.

Step 5: Enter the exact finished shade size in the order details email and write “outside recess installation.”
